Responsibilities

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Identifies, develops, and executes cost reduction and process improvement ideas into scalable and measurable projects.
    • Develop, lead, and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
    • Plan and conduct value stream analysis to ascertain the best process flow of operations and workflow.
    • Work with the production team, supervisors, and maintenance department to implement Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing activities.
    • Coordinate changes to current manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
    • Review, create, and improve manufacturing process using Lean/Six-Sigma principles.
    • Provides recommendation on automation needs supported with throughput improvement calculation and simulated tests.
    • Plans and directs manufacturing personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, as well as development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
    • Find waste in manufacturing floor and drive change methods to streamline manufacturing operations.
    • Researches and analyzes data such as specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
    • Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies, and techniques.
    • Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
    • Work with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products and may develop corrective and preventive action plans
    • Write and update work instructions and other documents (e.g., specifications, procedures).
    • Analyzes and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
    • Provides information for management decisions from a practical and technical cost perspective.
    • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
    • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for production team to help maintain product flow and support timely delivery to customers
    • Solve technical issues by identifying root cause(s) and identifying both short-term and long-term countermeasures - utilizing problem solving process when appropriate
    • Collaborate closely with relevant multi-functional departments to determine priorities and ensure efficient performance of production areas and timely product delivery
    • Provide input for Design for Manufacturing on new product development (NPD).
    • Working with the production team, supervisors, and engineering, create and maintain labor routings, process control plans and testing plans for current and new processes.

Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Minimum of 2-year experiences in Lean Manufacturing.
    • Minimum of one year of experience working in the sheet metal industry.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, general safety practices and OSHA regulations, safety policies, and safe manufacturing procedures.
    • Minimum Green Belt Six Sigma certification.
    • Knowledge of building basic machinery.
    • Proficiency in 3D design.
    • Proficiency in process mapping in a manufacturing environment.
    • Fundamental Engineering (FE) Exam Certification.
    • Fluent in English, and/or Vietnamese or Spanish.
    • Knowledge of 3D printing and ability to design and protype finished components.
    • Knowledge of sheet metal process manufacturing. Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and electro-mechanical machinery. Have experience using hand and mechanical tools.
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing automation (Able to identify application automation in manufacturing floor).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SolidWorks.
    • Hands on approach to problems.
    • Knowledge and utilization of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
    • Ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action.
    • Knowledge of PLC control programs (understanding of ladder logic and relays).
    • Familiarity with Java programming languages.
    • Ability to pass background check and drug screen.

    Salary commensurate with experience
    $50,00-$80,000
